We drove the 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero off-road in Australia. $84,990 for the GSR, a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel under the bonnet, and 750 to 800kg of payload depending on the model.
The Pajero is back after a long break and this is our first proper steer of it, on dirt, because that is where a ladder-frame 4×4 has to prove itself. What we can tell you right now is that it rides nothing like the Triton Raider it shares its bones with. Quieter, smoother, and considerably more grown up over the rough stuff.
The engine is the one everyone is going to argue about. 2.4 litres, 150kW and 480Nm, an eight-speed auto and an 80 litre tank. That is not the biggest number in this class, and we say so in the video rather than talk around it.
Then there is price. $68,490 before on-roads for the entry car, $84,990 for the GSR. That is Toyota Prado and Ford Everest money, which is the conversation every buyer is already having in the comments.
We also want to be straight with you. This was an off-road test. We have not driven it on Australian roads yet, so we are not going to sit here and tell you how it rides on a highway or how it tows. That comes in December.
